What is Reverse DNS?
Reverse DNS (PTR) maps an IP address back to a hostname. Mail servers and many security workflows expect consistent forward and reverse DNS.
How it works
Enter an IP address and PacketWizard queries PTR records, returning the hostname(s) published for that address.
Common issues
No PTR record
Many consumer and cloud addresses lack PTR records. That is not always an error, but it can affect mail reputation.
Forward/reverse mismatch
If PTR points to a name that does not resolve back to the same IP, some mail systems treat the host as suspicious.
